Art : A Vision
" The arts are not a frill. The arts are a response to our individuality and our nature, and help to shape our identity. What is there that can transcend deep difference and stubborn divisions? The arts. They have a wonderful universality. Art has the potential to unify. It can speak in many languages without a translator. The arts do not discriminate. The arts lift us up ".

Value of Art Education
It is undeniable that Art education is essential. It serves as a vital outlet for self-expression that transcends words' limits. For me, art captures emotions and experiences that are often difficult to describe with words. It provides a language all on its own, forming a deeper connection to our inner selves and the world around us. We are all familiar that art therapy demonstrates the healing power of creativity, showing how artistic expression can facilitate emotional exploration and mental well-being.Furthermore, art enriches society by challenging the norms, inspiring individuals, and benefiting our community. It aestheticizes cultural values and encourages empathy, making our world more inclusive and compassionate. Art is not just an addition to learning; it is fundamental to developing critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and cultural awareness.
Diversity - Equity - Inclusion
In my art classroom, I envision diversity, equity, and inclusion as not just concepts but fundamental principles that guide the teaching of any subject or skill. I believe that every student should feel valued and empowered to express themselves through art regardless of their background. Embracing the differences that are among us and acknowledging that it is those very differences that make us unique individuals. Each unique perspective enriches our learning environment and fosters creativity.
I strive to create a safe space where all voices can be heard and where students can explore their identities through their artwork. I believe that this approach not only broadens their understanding of art but also nurtures empathy and appreciation for different cultures.
